It was very cold last Saturday when we celebrated our annual Egungun Festival. But the òtútù did not deter us from celebrating our ancestral heritage.
Next year we will still be here to celebrate again.

Ọwọ́ as Hand and Eye
I showed Iya Oyo the drawing of her portrait I made one day. She said, “Ọ̣wọ́ rẹ gún,” (Your hands are straight), as she admired the portrait.
Baba Oyo responded with, “Ojú rẹ̀ gún” (His eyes are straight).
I was baffled. “What is straight, my eye or my hand?” I asked them.
“Ladies and gentlemen, mister honorable President,” the monkey whispers in his baritone voice into the mike.
The large crowd of people fell totally quiet.
The press reported there were at least one million party fanatics stuffed into the stadium built for only about two hundred thousand.
